There is a bewildering and (we think) confusing plethora of combinations for the 3 types of regulated advisor:
Some advisors are regulated for one of these activities, others for two of them, and a very few (like us) for all 3.
Those regulated for each activity may be fully independent, or tied to one or a few providers. Because a firm is independent for one activity does not mean it is independent for the others. For example many mortgage brokers are independent for mortgages, but tied to one insurer for other regulated business. We think this is confusing and doesn’t gives a good deal to the consumer.
All regulated firms have to disclose their status in this respect. This is done in the CIDD (click link below).
We believe that:
Combined Initial Disclosure Document (CIDD) sets out, in as brief a form as possible, the nature of our status and how we can help you. It is in a form prescribed by the FSA.
We have no allegiance to any insurance company, investment house or lender. Our allegiance & duty is to our clients.
