High Net Worth Home Insurance
Definition - High net worth home insurance caters especially for the owners of homes with a higher rebuild cost than most. Policies vary but, generally, insurers offer policies with minimum sums insured of £250,000 for buildings and £50,000 or £75,000 for contents.
Features - Insurers offering this type of policy recognise that the owners of such properties have special insurance needs: ü Buildings are often: § to a much higher specification § “one offs” § have architectural interest or are “Listed” buildings. ü Homes are larger, policyholders are usually financially successful and so have more contents, which are often of higher value. ü Being successful themselves, policyholders are used to providing high standards in their work and have high expectations on service.
How we can help - We understand the range of policies available, some underwritten by Lloyd's of London, others by insurance companies and how they can meet your expectations for wide cover and good service.
Service Note - we have found the service offered by specialist high net worth insurers to be far superior to that offered by home insurers of the more “ordinary” policies. This extends past simply issuing the policy to advice on security, access (usually at cost) to specialist valuers and to excellent claims service. The scope of cover is more comprehensive too.
Policies are often totally flexible. This allows your insurance contract to meet your precise requirement without paying for benefits which you don't need. In many cases insurers are prepared to give covers, such as: ü Annual travel cover (no need to waste time arranging cover for each trip). ü RAC motor breakdown including Europe ü Family motor fleet (to cover all vehicles) ü Pleasure craft ü Caravan ü Interest free instalment payments plan ü Up to £5,000 towards the cost of tracing leaks ü Garden re-landscaping costs up to 5% of the sum insured or a maximum of £50,000 ü Up to 2 years' alternative accommodation ü Automatically covers newly acquired contents and valuables for 45 days. ü Personal effects of guests and non resident staff ü Refrigerated or frozen food spoilage ü Lost or stolen keys ü Contents worldwide all risks is usually included in the price: no need to remember to tell us you are taking your best jewellery on that cruise. ü Personal and business documents ü Gifts ü After claims survey when your client has suffered a claim for loss or damage and requires assistance with risk management. ü Up to £10,000 towards upgrading security systems following an assault. ü Up to £15,000 towards essential alterations to the home if a family member is disabled through injury. ü Good no claims discount
